We are a group of local people who this year formed the Mayfield and Rocester Neighbourhood Association. Backed by Trent and Dove Housing, MARNA wants to bring together the different groups in the communities, put on events – especially for children and older people, and contribute to much-needed community projects.
At the moment we are purely Mayfield-focused, but we hope eventually to also welcome people from Rocester and Stanton to our committee and serve our wider rural area.
Although we only formed in January, already we have held a cheese and wine for other groups to find out what the priorities are for the village. As a result of this we, with the help of a Trent and Dove volunteer team, have already organised the dismantling of the old and tired Multi-Sport Games Area (MUGA / skateboard park) at the Mayfield Recreation Association. We are now working towards refurbishing it, with the help of a donation of materials from Buildbase. We also have plans for an outdoor gym and helping redo the children’s playground.
Our next event is a children’s Easter Egg hunt. Bringing together 30 children living in Mayfield.
