Description
Not a grass at all, but has strap shaped black leaves. A popular ornamental plant for gardens, it has pink flowers in late summer and dark glossy blue-black berries berries in autumn.
This plant forms dense clumps and spreads slowly via short rhizomes, creating a carpet-like ground cover. It reaches a height of about 20 cm and spreads up to 30 cm. Full sun to partial shade.
Requires minimal maintenance, making it a perfect choice for low-maintenance gardens. It is often used as a groundcover, for edging, or as underplanting for larger shrubs. Its dark foliage makes it popular for adding contrast in garden designs
Has received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit
